Individual Therapy

The Benefits of Individual Therapy

I work with individuals to deepen their relationships with themselves and their communities. I assist clients with centering themselves in their values and softening their inner critic so they can live more aligned with their full selves.

Many people grew up with insecure attachments with primary caregivers, which results in an insecure or uncertain sense of self. Insecure attachments can happen in many ways, and we can see this play out in people’s relationships to food.

I specialize in therapy focused on self-acceptance through compassion for people who identify with feeling insecurely attached in the world.

This includes developing a kinder inner voice; learning to identify and externalize shame; healing your relationship to food, eating, body; and the tendency to help others first before helping yourself. All of these things will help you feel better connected to yourself.

Our personal work is always about more than ourselves. When we make the choice to be in recovery with ourselves, that work ripples out and people in our personal lives and our communities often benefit.  My goal is to help clients feel more connected to themselves and their bodies. I utilize a combination of inner exploration with practical, tangible interventions.

I offer attachment-based, narrative, and solution-focused therapy to help you externalize the problem to find solutions that work for you and feel good in your body. I help you develop a strong foundation within your body in order to navigate all of the aspects of the world outside yourself. Together, we meet these issues as they show up in the present moment. When they are not in the present, we hold them intentionally on the back burner so we’re ready to tend to them when they do show up.
